“Go Urban” – Urban Missions Conference (July 2021)
It has been a good experience #gettingreal with each other on issues such as aging, singleness, race in recent weeks and today on disability. What a comfort it is that God speaks His truth into all these real life situations with His love and empowers with His strength.
Serving and loving a sin-tainted world truly comes at a cost. We will find that we will have to give up or lose some creature comforts that we enjoy in order to serve those who are elderly, single, of a different race or who are disabled in our midst. In this sense, following Jesus will mean that we will #getlost or lose.
Are we prepared to #getlost (or “lose ourselves”) to serve and love others who don’t know Jesus in an increasingly URBAN and troubled world?
At this year’s Urban Missions Conference (July 2021), we will be hearing first about how we as followers of Jesus are a “City on a hill”. In week two, we then explore what it means for us to “Go Urban” and why this is so strategic for the future. The third week looks at “Professions (or our job skills) in missions”, one of the best ways in which we can “Go Urban”. In the final week, we look specifically at how we will need to focus on “Reaching the Unreached and Marginalised in Cities”.
The four Saturday afternoon workshops will also enable us to be encouraged to “Go Urban”, whether as a family, as a senior, using your vocation or business to reach the unreached and marginalised in cities.
Any spiritual endeavour also needs to be covered by prayer. At Friday Prayer Meetings in July, we want to hear Scripture and humbly seek the Lord as a church on this simple question, “Where is the harvest for Zion Bishan?” See the next page for a helpful summary of Conference events.
