Prayer Points 11 July 2021
Our People
Hospitalisations and Surgeries – Pray for Queenie Lim-Ng and family as she undergoes major surgeries (see p7). Pray also for John Cho who is hospitalised, and for Melody Kwek’s mother who has internal bleeding. Hospital visitations are very restrictive due to Covid. Pray for their family members as they care for their loved ones through these trying times.
Foreign Domestic Workers (FDWs) – Pray for the FDWs working in the households of our church community. We thank God that some of them enjoy coming together at our Domestic Helpers Fellowship (DHF). They are a harvest field from Myanmar, Indonesia and the Philippines right in our midst. Pray that we will be a visible light, a community of love and a place where we are known for our good works that will point them to our heavenly Father and Saviour. Pray that good working relationships between employer and employee and good translated Christian tracts will be effective ways for us to shine God’s love to the FDWs in our midst.
Our World
Unreached People Group (UPG) Focus – This week, we look at the largest UPG in the world, the Shaikh/Bengalis, found mainly in Bangladesh, and with large populations in India and Pakistan, numbering 240 million worldwide. The Shaikh in Bangladesh are almost 100% of the Islamic faith with 0.00% Christians (source: Joshua Project). In Singapore, we have almost 100,000 Bangladeshis migrant workers in our midst. Pray that the Lord will send more workers to serve and reach the Bengali’s in their home countries and also in the places where they have travelled for work, like in Singapore. May we at Zion Bishan open our hearts to learning and praying for a gospel breakthrough among the Bengalis. Thank God for the Tamil service’s recent food distribution to a group of factory workers that included some from Bangladesh, along with others from South India and Myanmar. Pray for more in our church to engage the Shaikh in other ways.
Indonesia – Pray for the serious Covid situation in the world’s 4th most populous country. On 5 Jul, CNA reported there were oxygen shortages, and a record 29,745 new infections and 558 deaths. Pray for God’s mercy and provision for help. We thank God that our ministry partner here perseveres in serving those in need with relief and in sharing the good news in areas that have very few Christians.
India/Nepal – Our partner in East Nepal requests prayer for a sister in Christ who lost her husband on 25 June. She is only 24 years old with a 8 month old baby. Pray that her relatives will be supportive and that her faith will be strengthened through the church community. Thank God for the faithful work of our India partner who has been reaching out to remote villages in Northern India. Please pray specifically that the new believers here may be nurtured in a safe environment and that they will grow strong and firm in their faith.
