Prayer Points 4 July 2021
Our Church
Holy Communion – As we partake of Holy Communion in turns this month (due to prevailing restrictions), pray that as we remember Christ death and sacrifice to save us from our sins, we also remember that He has made us a family. Pray for our Zion Bishan family to be united in God’s Word and Work
Urban Missions Conference 2021 – Pray that more at Zion Bishan will be willing to #getlost or lose for the cause of Christ our King, who lost all on the cross for us. May this truth drive us to give of ourselves in grateful, loving witness to God’s goodness in our lives and to sacrificial service to those who do not know Jesus.
Our World
Singapore’s Unreached – In the recent Singapore Population Census 2020, Christians form 18.9% of Singapore’s population. Pray that Christians will have the burden to reach the remaining 81% for Jesus. From the same census, we see that the fastest growing group are those with “No Religion”. Pray for Christians to have the sensitivity and appropriate words from the Holy Spirit to reach out to their “freethinker” friends, family and colleagues with the gospel. The census also showed that Christians in Singapore are largely Chinese with diplomas or university degrees. There are fewer Christians who are of other races and with Secondary education or below. Pray that God will stir the Singapore church to consider seriously how we can reach the unreached here in Singapore.
Indonesia – Pray for the Missiology School alumni working here to develop skills to serve their local communities with the gospel. Pray that they may meet people open to the good news of Jesus. May new believers in their midst also grow in maturity; and may faithful leaders be nurtured to lead and disciple others. Pray that our church will have the wisdom to provide relevant training and support to these workers.
India – Pray for God’s provision of committed Christian teachers for the schools established in the Hindi Belt region by our mission partner. Praise God that the construction work of a church building in northeast India can now proceed because of the easing of Covid restrictions. Pray that it will be completed soon without disruption and that the pastor will be able to move in soon after completion.
Nepal – Thank God that the food relief has arrived safely at one of the Children’s Homes. Pray for safe passage, from things like road blockages due to landslides, for the other relief supplies being delivered during this monsoon season. The annual rice planting season has begun at one of the children’s homes following the onset of the rainfall. Pray that the children and staff will get a good harvest by November. The rice is a major source of food for them.
