Prayer Points 5 December 2021
Our Church
Youth Camp (6-10 Dec) – Pray for the youths, including a significant number of first-timers, that they find camp a safe space to grow their relationship with the Father, and have a glimpse of how Church is family as they interact in their groups of five. Pray for the committee, group leaders and speakers, for joy and wisdom as they lead and interact with the youths. Pray for the Word of God to be taught faithfully, through the messages, discussions and activities.
Catechism Class Retreat – Thank God that we were still able to have an in-person retreat yesterday, where we had much time to reflect on our spiritual journey with Christ. We are amazed that despite the pandemic, there are still 20+ persons who are seeking membership through baptism, reaffirmation or transfer. God is clearly at work! We look forward to seeing them all be received into the various English congregations on the 19Dec, together with many children.
Our World
COVID Variant Omicron –As the latest variant of concern sparks concern globally, let us pray for God’s grace and wisdom for nations and churches to face yet another challenge from the pandemic. Pray for individuals and families in your Action group or networks who are struggling with the prospect of more lockdowns and the economic problems these present. May our hearts remain steadfast in God who is faithful, loving, and sovereign.
India –Our partners are organising various evangelistic programmes during the Christmas month and will be inviting contacts and seekers to share in the joy and peace of Christmas. Pray for receptivity to the good news that is being shared. Thank God for the provision of tailoring classes that are being planned to meet local needs and for workers to engage with their community.
Lebanon –Our partner here reports that they are in “economic hell” and that there is no more middle class and 70% of the population is now under the poverty line. Protests against the political establishment is ongoing and continues. He says “The situation is depressing and now is the time to reach the people with something to eat and the gospel.” Pray for the provision of resources for our partner, his family and workers to provide some food aid to the people in and even beyond their networks.
Indonesia – Thank God for a fruitful visit by Brother S, to various places in Indonesia to meet and encourage Missiology School alumni who are persevering in serving and loving the majority people group where they live. Pray for God to strengthen these alumni who are facing challenges and opposition in some of these areas. Pray that they will have God’s wisdom to share the gospel relevantly and lovingly.
