Prayer Points 7 August 2022
Our Church
Singapore – Amidst the various headlines that dominate our local news these days, may we as followers of Jesus resonate in prayer with the Apostle Paul this National Day, that (1 Tim 2:1-4)
- Supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high position; and that
- We the church may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way because this is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Christianity Explored – Training for table hosts begin this Wednesday, 10 Aug. Pray for a fruitful time of learning as we consider our role in evangelism, what it involves, and how we can be helping others take steps closer to Christ. The 7-week course begins on 7 Sept.
Affinity Groups – Through Missions Month, we considered how one simple way to view the plentiful harvest is through the affinity groups or communities that are united through shared interest or factors and whom God has placed a burden for in your heart. In particular, thank God for those in ZB who have a heart for refugees and migrant workers in Singapore. Pray for the Father to show us what is on His heart for them, and the next steps we can take to reach them with His love.
Our People
Ordinations – The two ordaining councils chaired by Ps Alby Yip that were formed to examine and prepare Elder David Leong and Bro Ng Zhiwen met for the final interview on 4 August. We thank God that both councils unanimously affirmed Elder David and Bro Zhiwen’s call to be a Minister of the Gospel. The ordination dates will be announced later. Do keep both men and their families in prayer as they prepare for the ordained ministry.
Our World
Nepal – Pray for our partner in West Nepal who has a Children’s Home in village D. The home has 6 special needs children and 13 children of varying ages. Two ZB members have been conducting virtual training on how to manage, educate and love the special needs children. The centre managers had to go to Kathmandu due to medical needs. Thank God that a new couple has come to help out temporarily for a few months. Pray that the training will help them manage and love these children, who have already faced trauma like abuse and abandonment by their own parents.
India – Pray for our partner who runs a day care centre in northeast India. May the Lord continue to bless the work of their hands in caring and sharing Christ’s love for underprivileged children in the various centres they manage. Pray that God will give the workers grace, mercy and wisdom in managing the daily operations of the centres and in the lives of the children as well as their troubled families (e.g. alcoholism, gambling and health issues). From another partner, pray for healing for 2 girls who got injured when the ceiling fan fell on them in the night while they were sleeping. Thank God the injuries are not serious.
