Prayer Points 19 February 2023
Our Church
Christianity Explored (CE) – Training for table hosts begins this Wednesday, 22 Feb. Pray for a fruitful time of learning as we consider our role in evangelism, what it involves, and how we can be helping others take steps closer to Christ. The 7-week course begins on 15 March.
Living Room (LR) – The LR has been one of our key ministries in engaging and reaching our neighbours and our community with the Gospel. Thank God for the LR staff and the many outreach efforts we had across congregations. Pray also for the ongoing plans to grow deeper relationships through regular visitations. As we yearn for God’s Kingdom to reach the weary, the hungry and the lonely, pray for our hearts to be stirred and that we will step out with boldness, ready to partner with His Spirit where we see Him already working.
Our World
Turkey / Syria – In the Straits Times (15 Feb), the Turkey earthquakes have been called “the disaster of the century” by President Erdogan. Last Thursday, the death toll in Turkey alone was already over 35,000 and in Syria the United Nations reported that over 5,500 have died. This toll is rising each day. Thank God for the tremendous rescue efforts that have been undertaken by both government and volunteer crews to save individuals trapped under rubble in Turkey. And in Syria, Zion Bishan’s partner in Lebanon organised a 4 bus and truck convoy to bring blankets, mattresses, can food and other aid to churches in Aleppo, Syria. They travelled from Lebanon last Thursday for a very long time in order to reach to reach Aleppo on Friday. Thank God they were able to distribute blankets and food to various people outside by the roads, or in various centres. They were able to also pray with many and bring encouragement to those affected. Sister KY is also serving with Habibi International, in this region. Habibi is raising $100,000 to provide aid to the Syrians forcibly displaced by the earthquake. Pray for God to provide the resources for all these aid efforts and for Christians to demonstrate God’s love in the areas affected.
India – In the Northeast, pray for our partner’s men conference starting next week to be God honouring and edifying, where men will be equipped for life and service. Another partner has requested prayer for God’s guidance so that a Christian burial ground may be acquired from local villages and authorities. Give thanks that one partner that works in the Hindi Belt is able to celebrate 25 years of faithful service in this challenging field. Pray that God will continue to bless the work so that disciples can be made until Jesus’ return.
Nepal – Pray for church team currently visiting our partners. Pray for protection as they travel and also from illness. May the time they spend with our partner be life-giving for both our team and the community of believers there. Pray especially for a fruitful time between the young adults and our partner’s youth community. May they be encouraged to take hold of their identity as sons and daughters of our heavenly Father and to live out of the assurance of His love and provision.
