Prayer Points 24 Mar 2024
Our Church
Explore Internship – We thank God for Ryan Tee, our Explore intern who will be with us till Mid-April. Pray that this will be a time of growing in his faith and relationship with God, through the bible studies, workshops and ministry exposure. Do also pray that whatever he learns and experiences in this internship will help deepen his foundations to keep following Jesus in the next season of life.
Our Denomination
Emmanuel BP – Please continue to pray for our sister church as they look for more help to minister to their small but faithful Chinese congregation. Breakthrough Missions has completed their one year of assistance, and so now they are lacking in Mandarin-speaking Bible teachers.
Our World
Gaza’s Food Crisis – Extreme food shortages in Gaza due to months of conflict has led to very real prospect of famine scale death rates from starvation, malnutrition and disease. Singapore and other nations have been responding to this crisis with humanitarian aid. A ship carrying 200 tonnes of aid for Gaza left Cyprus on 12 Mar in a pilot project to open a sea route to deliver supplies to a population that aid agencies say is on the brink of famine (CNA, 12 Mar). Thank God that some of us from Zion Bishan also donated canned food for a donation drive for Gaza last Sunday. The crisis continues and needs much prayer and wisdom for people hurt on both sides of this conflict. Pray that God, in his loving sovereignty, will also end the great suffering in Gaza.
Myanmar – Since the military coup in 2021, the people of Myanmar have seen prolonged internal strife and much suffering. In Feb 2024, the military government announced a plan to conscript 60,000 soldiers a year for men between 18 and 35 years old to serve 2 years in the army. The first batch would be recruited soon in April 2024. Pray for Myanmar Christians to stand firm during this difficult time and to continue to show Christ’s love to their neighbours.
