Our Church
Lent –In this season of Lent, let us remember Christ’s suffering and sacrifice in His journey to the cross. May we have soft hearts, willing to come humbly before Him, in repentance for our sin and willing to walk in obedience to His commands. May we also be bold to share the Good news of Jesus to someone specific this Easter.
Easing of COVID Safe Management Measures – Thank God for the gradual easing of safe management measures in Singapore that will allow people to resume normal routines and allow businesses to thrive. The new measures will also allow for congregational singing (with masks on from NEXT Sunday) – thank God for the long-awaited opportunity that we can gather in worship. Pray for the recovery of those who are infected with the virus and for the safe easing of measures across various sectors including religious gatherings.
Our World
Leadership Training (India) – We thank God that our partners here value the need to train workers and pastors in the various fields. Many of them held various programmes for leadership training in March. Here are a few of them, an Annual Pastors’ Conference (Partner STP) , a Bible Convention (Partner O), Leadership Seminar (Partner MM). Pray that these trainings will encourage and strengthen the faith of all the workers who attended these various events.
Refugees –10 million people (or roughly 1/4 of Ukraine’s pre-war population) have been forced to flee their homes in Ukraine – UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, said via Twitter on 20 Mar (Sun). Pray for all refugees and internally displaced peoples all over the world, not just in Ukraine, but also in Myanmar and in Syria, and especially in Ethiopia, Africa’s second-most populous nation. In Ethiopia, a bloody civil war is now in its 16 month, and millions are at risk of starvation and war atrocities (Bloomberg, 22 Mar). Please continue to pray for the many refugees facing the physical, emotional trauma, grief and loss of their homes and loved ones, that God will bring them comfort and healing.
Indonesia – We thank God for a partner’s ministry to the blind community here that has helped many of them to get back onto their feet. In total, our partner reports that the blind form about 2% of the Indonesian population. Many of them are abandoned by their families and community. Praise God that recently they were able to gather via zoom to have a time of worship and studying the word through discovery bible sessions. Though currently a small community, it has been a good start. Pray for the growth of this ministry to the blind community, that many more will come to know our Lord.
