Sermon Notes 4 September 2022

Speaker: Mr Quek Tze-Ming
( 8.30am & 10.30am )

He Is Our Peace

Ephesians 2:11-22

Introduction

Past: Separation and Hostility (v. 11-12)

Present: Peace and Reconciliation (v. 13-18)

Now and Future Temple: Being Built and Growing (v. 19-22)

Questions for Reflection and Discussion:

  1. Google the lyrics of John Lennon’s song “Imagine.” To what extent does it express your own yearnings regarding divisions between peoples of the world?
  2. According to the scripture passage and what you remember of the sermon, how is that problem to be solved?
  3. What are the different groups in our church (Language? Age? Ethnicity?)?
  4. How would you encourage more openness to include others who are different in our church? Do Paul’s images for the church give us any pointers: fellow citizens (v. 19); household (v. 19); building/structure (v. 21)?

  • The Riches of His glorious Inheritance in the saints
  • The Immeasurable greatness of Power towards us who believe

Conclusion: A Temple-Building like no other…

Why we need to know this

And what this means for our relationships with one another

Questions for Reflection and Discussion:

  1. How has today’s passage helped you appreciate Jesus and what He has done for us in verses 13-22?
  2. How does this passage grow our understanding of the 3 things that Paul is praying for knowledge of in 1:15-23?
  3. How must what God is saying about the Temple Building Project change our view of our relationships with one another?
