Day 1

How did you grow in your understanding of Jesus as your compassionate brother and sympathetic High Priest? How has that helped you to more boldly approach God’s throne of grace in times of temptation to sin?

Speak to our Father in heaven with thanksgiving and prayer about this.

Day 2

Read Hebrews 5:11-6:12. What is the state of the Hebrews church being described here? How does this shed light on everything spoken to the church so far in the book?

Day 3

Read Hebrews 5:11-6:12 once more. What is the warning here? How do the “oracles of God” (5:12) relate to the “power of discernment” (5:14)? [Hint: remember what was said earlier about the word of God in 4:12-13]

Day 4

Read Hebrews 6:13-20. What is the author saying here about the promises of God? How does that build on what we have seen about the word of God in Day 3 earlier?

Day 5

Read Hebrews 6:1-12 again. How has this passage challenged or encouraged you this week? Why?

Set aside some time to talk to our Lord about these things. Ask for the Spirit’s help to respond in obedience to what you have heard.
