Prayer Points 20 Aug 2023
Our Church
Catechism Class – We thank God for the dozens of visitors that have come just this year alone, and how God is moving many to make Zion Bishan their spiritual home. Due to the overwhelming number of signups we apologise that we strictly cannot take any more new participants for this round. Pray for almost 50 catechumens as they take this 3-month journey together. Pray also for the table hosts to minister faithfully in Jesus’ name.
The Living Room – We thank God for the growth of the LR ministry – with its befriending work in Sin Ming, increased catering support for our other ministries and for ZBK, and foot-fall at the cafe. Pray for the staff as they look to hire. One of our staff, Hong Mi, is expecting her first child on 29th. Pray for God’s grace and protection over both mother and child, and a successful C-Section. Remember also Christina as she rests and recovers after sustaining an injury.
Church Warden – Pray for a smooth return home for our warden’s wife, Thin Thin. She returns to Yangon for good on 21 Aug 2023, Monday. Khaing, our church warden will join her after Feb 2024. May God give her a safe and smooth transition back to life in Yangon. Pray also for the wisdom to discern what the next steps should be.
Our World
Pakistan – BBC reported acts of violence against Christians and their homes, churches and other related properties on Thurs, 17 Aug over claims against two local Christian residents under the blasphemy law, which carries the death sentence. The Christian community in Pakistan is in deep pain and distressed. Pray that Pakistani Christians will be safe and experience the peace of God amidst such grave challenges.
Malaysia – As the country celebrates its 66th National Day on 31 Aug, pray for the well-being of the country and God’s blessings on its people. May the love of Christ unite Malaysian churches so that it can be salt and light to the many unreached communities within Malaysia. Pray for perseverance and joy in the Lord for the 2 Christian workers ministering among the Orang Asli community in the Endau-Rompin area. Pray also for Ps Ebi and others who have been visiting and encouraging the small Tamil fellowship in Ipoh.
