Cain and Abel                                             
Genesis 4:1-16                                           

Introduction

Life goes on (4.1-2a)

Life seems unfair (4.2b-7)

Life taken … and Consequences (4.8-16)

Conclusion: Life away from the presence of the LORD

Questions for Reflection & Discussion:

1. What similarities do you see between this chapter and the previous Genesis 3? What differences do you see?
2. Why do you think God rejected Cain’s offering and accepted Abel’s? What do Cain and Abel teach us about how we respond, especially when we think we are unfairly treated (by God!)? 
3. Can you think of examples, from your own life, of times when “sin is crouching at the door, desiring you”? If you feel comfortable, share about what happened when you succumbed to, or overcame, that temptation? Pray for one another.
4. What does God do here, in the increasing extent and effect of sin? Do you see this in our world?
